We offer short AAT courses, along with a route to a recognised Bookkeeper qualification and the main AAT qualification.

Main AAT Accounting Qualifications (Level 1, 2, 3 and 4)

There are four levels to the AAT Accounting qualification and you can expect to spend around a year on each level.  But, if you have previous experience or exemptions you could qualify in two years or less.

Level 1Award in Accounting  Introduction to basic accounting and finance skills, a good access for Level 2.
Level 2Certificate in Accounting16/17 year old school leavers or adults with no or little bookkeeping or Accounting experience would enter at this point
Level 3Advanced Diploma in AccountingSchool leavers or adults with experience and knowledge of double entry bookkeeping, building on skills developed at level 2
Level 4Professional Diploma in Accounting

Only applicants with a strong background in Accounting would be advised to start here.

How long does it take?

Usually 3 years to become fully AAT qualified.  Each of the three levels takes approximately one year to achieve.

A discussion with a tutor can determine the best entry level for each learner based on prior knowledge and experience.

To achieve full membership status and use the initials MAAT the learner will need to have completed 1 years full time work experience as well.

Support and advice at every stage

We offer courses and qualifications that are always relevant and up-to-date, designed to support learners at every stage of their careers.

Aplus training offer a choice of evening and day courses in Plymouth and Exeter for all levels.

The course is assessed by means of a mix of computer based tests and projects.

Learners are taught through a variety of presentations, activities and group work leading to exam preparation held one week before each exam, at the end of each module.

Progression: what you could do after the course

On completion of each level you can apply for the next.  After achieving the level 4 Advanced Diploma in Accounting the learner could look to continue their studies with Chartered Accounting Bodies, CIMA, ACCA or ACA.
